The holiday season isn’t complete without a few sips of a spirit or two so I’ve rounded up a list of holiday cocktail recipes you can try at home. Staying home and staying safe just got a little more fun with these recipes.

Recipe 1 – Cranberry Ginger Gin Cocktail

Serve this holiday cocktail for brunch and your family and friends are sure to be impressed.

PREP TIME: 5 MINS SERVES: 1

Ingredients

1 1/2 oz gin

1 1/2 oz cranberry juice

3/4 oz fresh lemon juice

1/2 oz ginger liqueur

1/4 oz maple syrup

2 sprigs fresh thyme

Club soda

Directions

STEP 1:

Add gin, cranberry, lemon, ginger liqueur, maple syrup, and thyme to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake.

STEP 2:

Strain into a glass over fresh ice. Top with club soda and stir.

Garnish with fresh cranberries and thyme.

Recipe 2- Sorrel Collins Cocktail

Did someone say holiday cocktail?

Ingredients

1 1/2 oz. Tanqueray Gin

3/4 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice

1 oz. Sorrel Syrup (infused with Cloves and Honey)

Club Soda (for topping)

Misting of Orange Bitters

Glassware: Collins

Directions: Shake all ingredients (except Club Soda) with ice, and double strain over ice block.

Garnish: Lemon Twist and Dehydrated Sorrel

Sorrel Syrup Recipe:

20 Red Sorrel Pods (dried)

2 Cinnamon Sticks (no Cinnamon Powder)

8 Whole Cloves (no Clove Powder)

1 small stick All Spice Bark (no All Spice Powder)

1 small piece Ginger Root (no Ginger Powder)

3 Bay Leaves

1 small Strip Fresh Lemon Peel

1 small Strip Fresh Orange Peel

1 teaspoon Clear Vanilla Extract

1 cup Granulated Sugar

1/4 Cup Honey

Methodology:

1. Bring 3 cups of water to a boil, add Cinnamon Sticks, Cloves, All Spice Bark, Ginger Root and Bay Leaves. Cover and let simmer for 15 – 20 minutes on slow heat.

2. Add Sorrel and Bay Leaves, and allow to simmer in the “spiced water” for an additional 20 minutes, stirring in the Granulated Sugar, until a Sorrel Reduction is achieved.

3. Remove from heat and gently stir in Honey.

4. Allow concentrate to steep overnight with Citrus Peels.

5. Strain using a sieve.

6. Add clear Vanilla Extract (to taste).

7. Bottle and refrigerate immediately.

Recipe 3- Sorrel Mojito

Typically a summer drink but living in the Caribbean where it’s summer all year round is the perfect excuse to try this one out this holiday.

Ingredients

Mint leaves

2 oz simple syrup

½ oz lime juice

2 oz white rum

1 oz sorrel juice

Directions

Crush mint leaves in a glass then add simple syrup and lime juice then stir.

Add white rum to the mix followed by ice chips. Then add sorrel juice and stir.

Garnish with fresh mint leaves and serve.

Recipe 4- Sorrel swizzle

Get the Christmas festivities started by serving your guests a traditional Caribbean holiday drink with a twist.

Thing you’ll need:

Swizzle stick

Glass

Ingredients

1oz Sorrel syrup

1/4oz Lime juice

Angostura bitters

1 1/2oz Appleton rum

Directions

Add sorrel syrup to glass followed by lime juice.

Two splashes of Angostura bitters.

Fill the glass to its halfway mark with ice and toss the mixture with a swizzle stick.

Add appleton rum then add a few more ice chips and toss the mixture again with the swizzle stick.

Fill the glass with ice and garnish with fresh rosemary and sorrel bud.
