Winter Skincare Regimen

It’s the winter time and even though I live in Jamaica the temperature here does change. Not quite enough for you to have a need to bundle up during the day but at night it can get quite chilly. With the change in temeperature, a person like me with dry skin gets drier and avoiding that is top priority. So to keep my skin soft and supple in the colder, drier times I have created a slightly modified skincare regimen.

Generally, my skincare regimen mainly focuses on keeping acne at bay. It works well all year round too but the pesky cycle related pimples usually break through despite my best efforts. To combat that however, I cleanse my face with African black soap or any soap available. I’ve found double cleansing at night to be particularly helpful. I am currently testing out a cleanser but that’s a discussion for another blog post. Stay tuned for that.

To follow that, I exfoliate every other day with St Ives Apricot Scrub, which leaves my face baby bottom smooth.  I tone with witch hazel on a cotton pad and apply my moisturizer of either Oil of Beauty Lotion by Topicare or just some good ole olive oil.

For the winter though I like to add something more to the mix, I have a choice of sheet masks I’ll use when I want to replenish the moisture in my skin and relax and pamper myself.

The clay masks I live by are Queen Helene’s Mint Julep Mask and Earth Elements’ turmeric and lime mask to draw out any impurities once a week.

Then for the rest of my body I shower with the St. Ives Softening Body Wash and moisturize my body with Vitamin E lotion that keeps me shining. For especially dry areas I’ll whip out the mango butter and rub a little on to heal the skin.

Hope this helps you stay buttery smooth all winter long. Thanks for reading. Come back  tomorrow as I continue BLOGMAS 2018.
